Seven people returned positive COVID-19 nucleic acid tests on Monday in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, local authorities have said. The seven were identified as migrant workers at the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, according to the zone's headquarters on COVID-19 prevention and control.

As of 15pm on August 2, there have been 4 high-risk areas and 91 medium-risk areas in the Chinese mainland according to the information published on the official APP of China's State Council. Anyone coming from, or passing through, high-risk areas is required to have two nucleic acid tests and quarantine for 14 days at designated venues.

Starting from Monday, people taking public transport buses from key bus terminals in Shanghai will have their temperatures checked, according to Jiushi Group, the city's major bus operator. The new measure was adopted as more and more cities on the Chinese mainland have been reporting COVID-19 cases since late July.

Many hospitals in the city have tightened their entry and visit control measures due to new spikes in sporadic COVID-19 infections experienced around China since last week. The national travel history tracking code system crashed on Monday morning as many public venues, including hospitals, requested people's travel details before allowing entry.

An airport staff member at the cargo terminal of the Shanghai Pudong International Airport has tested positive for COVID-19, the city's disease control and prevention center said on Monday. It is the first local COVID-19 case in Shanghai since the recent outbreak in neighboring Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.

The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported 55 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Monday. Of the locally transmitted cases, 40 were reported in Jiangsu, seven in Hunan, two each in Beijing and Hubei, and one each in Shandong, Henan, Hainan and Yunnan, according to the commission.
