The Spring Festival holiday is usually a peak season for the travel industry in any year, but the unexpected novel coronavirus epidemic this year has forced most people to stay at home and travel agencies are bearing the brunt of its impact.

 

The Ministry of Finance is formulating a plan to allocate a second round of special funds for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus outbreak, said Vice-Finance Minister Yu Weiping on Friday.



China will step up fiscal spending and roll out more tax relief policies to support the country's fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic, the Ministry of Finance said on Friday.



Foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland rose by six percent year on year to 845.9 billion yuan in the first 11 months of 2019, data from the  Ministry of Commerce showed.


China has advised areas less affected by the novel coronavirus epidemic to expand local businesses, as part of its larger efforts to shore up the domestic supply of necessities and urgently needed goods to fight the outbreak, the Ministry of Commerce said on Sunday.


The Chinese economy is expected to ride out the pressure brought by the novel coronavirus outbreak and maintain strong economic growth by global standards this year, economists said on Thursday.
