To celebrate International Chinese Language Day, "The Way of Type — Modernisation of Chinese Typography" exhibition opened at the Welgemeend Function and Conference Venue in Cape Town, South Africa on April 19.The exhibition puts 151 pieces on display to give a full picture of the modern development of Chinese fonts. Its aim is to promote international cultural exchanges, enhance academic cohesion and stimulate interest and enthusiasm in people from all over the world to learn the Chinese language.

Shanghai, Beijing and Zhejiang province are top three regions in China in terms of residents' disposable income in the first quarter of this year, Time-Weekly.com reported on Sunday.Shanghai ranks first with 23,489 yuan ($3,405) residents' disposable income in Q1, up 3.64 percent year-on-year, followed by Beijing and Zhejiang with 21,367 yuan and 20,158 yuan, respectively, in the same period.

China has introduced a series of policies to stabilize the scale of its foreign trade and improve its structure amid uncertain external demand, trade risks and other challenges, said the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.To keep the foreign trade scale stable, the country will make efforts to create more opportunities, stabilize trade of important products and support foreign trade companies, Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen told a press conference.

Construction on an international board at the Shanghai Data Exchange has been started to explore cross-border two-way data flows, Wu Jincheng, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, said at the Data Ecosystem Partnership Conference held in Singapore on Monday.The new board will advance cross-border data business cooperation between Chinese and international companies to realize global data interconnection, he said.

China will step up efforts to stabilize foreign trade performance while improving the trade structure through a raft of policy measures, government officials said at a news conference on Sunday. Experts said the country is expected to further vitalize enterprises in the foreign trade sector while forging stronger trade cooperation with developed as well as emerging economies, amid negative factors including rising protectionism and weakening global demand.

The second phase of the 133rd China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, kicked off in Guangzhou of Guangdong province on Sunday, with nearly 12,000 exhibitors.The five-day expo has set up 18 display areas featuring consumer goods, gifts, and household decorations.
