China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) will be further developed and feature better compatibility and interoperability coordination with the world's other navigation systems, including the GPS system of the United States, Russia's GLONASS system and the Galileo system of the European Union, an official said during the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit in Zhejiang province on Wednesday.

Carmakers sold 2.51 million vehicles last month, up 6.9 percent year-on-year, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday. They brought total sales in the first 10 months this year to 21.98 million units across the country, up 4.6 percent from the same period last year.

The Chinese mainland on Wednesday reported 1,133 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said on Thursday. Altogether 7,691 local asymptomatic carriers were newly identified. A total of 343 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the mainland on Wednesday, said the commission in its daily report.

The fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded in Shanghai Thursday, with a total of $73.5 billion worth of tentative deals reached for one-year purchases of goods and services. The figure represented an increase of 3.9 percent from that of last year, Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau, told a news conference.

More than 4,700 vehicles were loaded onto a ship — the Grande Mirafiori — on Tuesday at the automobile terminal in Dalian, Liaoning province. "It set a record for Dalian Port for a single shipment of foreign trade commodity vehicles," said Jin Zhaoxing, assistant general manager of Dalian Automobile Terminal Co.

Shares of the Chinese chip company Sai MicroElectronics plunged after the German government banned it from purchasing the automotive chip assets of Germany's Elmos Semiconductor. Sai MicroElectronics was trading down 6.9 percent at 16.08 yuan ($2.22) as of 1.30 pm on Thursday.
